Zhenyu Li
Zhenyu Li, a China-based bilingual columnist, violinist and news anchor, specializing in the creative industries, pens the Created in China column for Suite101.
Li started writing bilingual sports columns for People's Daily Online in 2006 and has been a contributing columnist for such publications as the Global Times, The Boxing Times, TheSweetScience.com, SecondsOut.com, BoxingScene.com and PhilBoxing.com.
As a bilingual culture writer, he has written for the The Press magazine, Global People magazine, Beijing Review, China Daily, 21st Century English newspaper, China & The World Cultural Exchange magazine, China Cultural Industry magazine, CRIENGLISH.com and City Weekend, among others. His works were reprinted by such mainstream media outlets as Reuters, ESPN.com, The Guardian, USATODAY.com, Newsday.com, Philippine Daily Inquirer, etc.
A 20-year classically trained semi-professional violinist, amateur-level piano player and occasional songwriter, Li acquired the Certificate Level 1 in viola bestowed by the State Education Commission of China in 2000 and the Certificate for Amateur Violin Player Level 10 from the China Conservatory in 1999. He served in the Tsinghua University Symphony Orchestra and University Symphony Orchestra of Beijing Institute of Technology prior to moving into entertainment journalism.
As an English-language news anchor, Li's programs have been featured in China's premier radio network — China Radio International (CRI) and TheSweetScience.com.
Graduated from the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) with a Bachelor of Management, majoring in Management Information System (MIS), and the School of Cultural Industries at the Communication University of China (CUC) with a Master of Economics in Industrial Economics, Li earned the Business English Certificate Higher from Cambridge University.
